Kirn Primary kicks off Inter-House Football Tournament

KIRN PRIMARY School pupils showed off their football skills and teamwork last week, during a thrilling Inter-House Football Tournament held

over two days.

The event saw P5–P7 House teams compete on Thursday, followed by the P1–P4 teams on Friday, with both girls’ and boys’ matches taking place. Staff praised pupils for their outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play, with children cheering each other on in both victory and defeat.

Classes across the school came out to support their teams and the playground and hall were awash with colourful homemade banners, posters and flags, as pupils proudly represented their Houses — More, Connell, MacDonald and Gilbertson.

A special guest, Ross Hardie, a professional referee from the Scottish Premiership, and local policeman, officiated the outdoor matches and praised the pupils for their effort and attitude. Mrs Mitchell from Active Schools

also joined to referee the indoor games, ensuring every match ran smoothly.

Organisers Miss Melville, who came up with the idea, and Miss McKissock, who helped plan the event, said they were delighted to see such enthusiasm and team spirit from all involved.

Certificates will be presented to all players, while the winning Houses proudly lifted the House Trophy.

Winners: P5–P7 Girls and Boys: Connell. P1–P4 Girls and Boys: MacDonald (after a very close game with Gilbertson).
