KYLES ATHLETIC continued their warm-up for the forthcoming shinty season with a competitive fixture against a well-organised Inveraray side.
Inveraray took an early lead following an error and looked the stronger team in the first-half.
But there was a strong reaction after the break following a few honest words at half-time, the intensity lifted and Kyles looked the better side as goals from Will Cowie and Luke Thornton secured the win.
Player of the match went to Murdo Macrae as the Kyles players got valuable minutes in the legs ahead of the 2026 season
On the result, first team coach, Grant Profit, Said: “Great to get minutes in everyone’s legs today on a difficult surface – good to see a lot of fight in the boys to come from a goal down and a turn around in performance.
“It was a ropey first-half from us and we didn’t start too well, Inveraray showed a lot more aggression and done really well. We had a slip up at the back and they took the lead in the first 20 minutes but we slowly grew into the game before half-time.
“We came out and played a lot better and dominated most of the second-half, we had a number of chances and eventually got the breakthrough and took the lead with Luke Thornton and Will getting the goals and we saw it out in the end.
“We’ve got one more friendly against Bute at the stadium next week before the start of the season.”
