Editor – Grant McDonald’s letter last week,(Cowal loyalty wearing thin), was shocking, we have some very capable and diligent local councillors in Cowal, from all parties. How dare he say that they are in this for the money. These ladies and gentlemen work tirelessly to improve the lives of every one of their constituents. They are supported by local community councillors, who also work tirelessly to improve the area. If they are that bad, why don’t you put your money where your mouth is and stand for election next year as a community councillor or even better in 2027 as an Argyll and Bute councillor.
Grant moaned about the lack of NHS Dentistry, this is a national problem and not just isolated to the PA23 postcode, the NHS can not recruit enough dentists so this will have a knock-on effect across the country.
As for Western Ferries they are a private company, what they charge is down to them, but as a local resident, you will know that you can
get discounted tickets from their agents which are half the price. If you don’t like the price of a ferry ticket, you are welcome to drive around by road, you can then check the sign as you pass to make sure the road is open. They conducted 3,2000 sailings last year with 99 per cent of sailings carried out. They will put ferries on out of hours for the emergency services, they provide extra sailings at busy times and donate a lot of money to local groups. So please don’t have a go at them, have a look at the other ferry service that is owned and operated by the Scottish Government if you want to belittle anyone.
Cowal as with other places has its faults and nobody is denying it, but it is miles ahead of many other places throughout this country, So please do not run this town down or the people trying to make it better, and if it really is that bad, don’t let the door hit you on the backside when you leave.
