Local caterer marks Citizenship milestone

ON FRIDAY, November 21 a Citizenship Ceremony was held for Elena Wood (nee Morozowa).

Elena is quite well known throughout Dunoon having worked in the catering industry, the Burgh Hall and now running an outside catering business in the area.

Elena, who is originally from Ukraine, spent a long time in Poland before moving to Dunoon some years ago. The ceremony was conducted by Linda Mollins, the assistant registrar for Dunoon and Cowal and was attended by Lt Col (Ret’d) Peter McDill the Depute Lieutenant representing the Lord Lieutenant of Argyll and Bute.

The picture shows the family group at the end of the ceremony with, (from left to right), Ann, (mother- in-law), Elena, Andrew

(Elena’s husband) and Tony (brother-in-law) all having been surprised at how‘informallyformal’the event was.

A spokesperson for the citizenship ceremony said: “Although these ceremonies are now a formal legal part of the process of gaining citizenship it doesn’t mean that they have to become a stuffy rigmarole – this is an important day in the life of the new citizen and their family – so let’s enjoy ourselves as well.”
