A GLENFINART pony has been crowned Mountain & Moorland Junior Ridden Pony of the Year 2025, after a stunning performance at the National Pony Society of Scotland’s finals.
Holmedown Princess Kaiulani, owned by Mrs Lorna Boyd of Craighoyle Farm, took the prestigious title at the
Scone Palace International Horse Trials last month.
Ridden by 17-year-old Morgan McLaughlan from Kilwinning, Kaiulani first won her class before going on to secure the overall championship against strong competition from 60 junior riders across three classes.
The talented pony qualified for the finals at the Ayr Show in May and delivered on her early promise with the championship win.
For owner Mrs Boyd, the
achievement was particularly poignant. She explained: “Such a special moment as my husband passed away a year ago and had such high hopes for this mare, who we bought as a weaned foal from her breeder in Devon. It was wonderful to see Morgan win this title in her last year as a junior rider.”
Morgan, who has previously won the Junior Horse of the Year Show Qualifier at the Royal Highland Show, is tipped for a bright future in the showing world.
