KYLES OF BUTE Golf Club hosted the Portavadie Cleat Trophy in the gents section on Sunday, June 14, with a closely contested competition producing atieatthetopofthe leaderboard.
Dan MacRae and Niall McFarlane both returned impressive net scores of 67, but it was MacRae who lifted the Portavadie Cleat Trophy after edging the
result on countback thanks to a stronger inward half.
Another tie followed in the battle for second place, with Jim Carruthers and Mike McIntosh both carding net 69 rounds.
In the scratch competition, Gordon Whyte claimed first place with an excellent gross score of 72.
There was further success on the day in the twos competition, with
Jim Carruthers and Niall McFarlane both recording a two.
Club members extended thanks to Portavadie Marina for its continued support and sponsorship of the event.
Attention now turns to next Sunday’s competition, the Argyll Forestry Services Trophy. The ballot will take place at 9.45am and all gents members are welcome to take part.
Meanwhile, the ladies section played the first round of the Coronation Cup, with Susan Mutch producing the best performance of the day.
Four ladies from KoBGC also represented the club at the National Woman’s Institute Golf Finals at the Gleddoch last week and delivered an excellent performance, finishing runners-up after countback.
