Man convicted of culpable homicide after pushing man in front of moving ambulance

Lewis Budge pled guilty at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday, 21 January, 2026.

He will be sentenced at a later date.

The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday, 6 September, 2023, at Corran Esplanade on the A85.

Robert, 39, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and died on Thursday, 7 September, 2023.

Following an investigation, Budge was arrested and charged in connection with his death.

Inspector Gerry Shovlin said: “Our thoughts remain with Robert’s family and friends, who have suffered a devastating loss.

“While no outcome can undo what happened, I hope this guilty plea brings some measure of comfort to them.

“This was a shocking and senseless attack. Violence such as this is never acceptable in our communities.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
