Nathan drums up world championship success

A TALENTED young drummer from Dunoon, Nathan Paul has added another impressive achievement to his growing list of musical honours after finishing sixth at the World Solo Drumming Championships.

The Dunoon Grammar School Pipe Band member secured his top-six finish at the prestigious competition on Saturday, October 17, improving on his previous seventh-place finish at world level.

It marks another significant step forward for Nathan, who has been making a name for himself on the competitive drumming circuit while balancing his musical commitments with schoolwork.

Earlier this year, he enjoyed a double success at the Inveraray Highland Games, winning the Under-15 Drumming title before being named Best Local Drummer Under 18.

Nathan is also a member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, and at the start of this year, he performed alongside acclaimed Scottish trad-rock band Skerryvore at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival, taking to the stage in front of an audience of 4,100 people.

The unforgettable experience saw him become the first musician to walk onto the stage as part of a 40-strong National Youth Pipe Band performance.

Despite his growing list of achievements, Nathan remains determined to improve his playing and compete at an even higher level.
