A new chief financial officer has been appointed by Inverclyde Council after a lengthy recruitment process, it can be confirmed.
David Forbes will join the local authority from North Ayrshire Council where he has been a senior manager.
He has more than four decades of experience at local authorities, having also worked in finance roles at Renfrewshire and East Ayrshire councils.
Mr Forbes said: “I am delighted to be joining Inverclyde Council as the new chief financial officer.
“My career has always been in local authorities where I am proud to make a difference to the communities we serve.
“Finance is always busy but I’m joining as we start to finalise the budget for 2026/27 which I know the finance team and members budget working group have been working hard on.
“I am looking forward to getting to know Inverclyde, its people and its priorities.”
In an announcement, the council said Mr Forbes brings a “broad understanding” of operations, having worked in this area within water, sewerage, roads and social work earlier in his career.
It comes after the long-serving Alan Puckrin retired as chief financial officer in April, with Angela Edmiston, a finance manager, taking over on a temporary basis.
Ms Edmiston has worked for the council for more than 20 years across a range of services, including 12 at a managerial level.
