PROSECUTORS CONFIRMED this week that a 34 year- old Iranian man, charged following an alleged incident at HM Naval Base Clyde has been released from custody, while investigations
continue.
The man had been due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court after police were called to the Faslane base at around 5pm on Thursday, March 19. However, the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, (COPFS), confirmed he did not appear in court and has instead been released pending further inquiries.
A 31-year-old Romanian woman who was also charged in connection with the incident will face no further action at this stage. After reviewing the available evidence, prosecutors confirmed that no proceedings will be taken
against her. A COPFS spokesperson explained that while no action is being taken against the woman, the option remains open to revisit the case should new evidence emerge.
