Nominations open for Dunoon’s Community Champion awards
Last year’s champions Helena McLay and 11-year-old serial charity fundraiser Ellie Emmerson

DUNOON is calling for its unsung heroes, young and old, as nominations open for this year’s Community Champion titles.

Two awards are up for grabs; Dunoon Presents Community Champion and Dae it Yersel Young Community Champion.

Organisers say the twin accolades reflect the breadth of volunteer effort across Dunoon and Cowal, much of it rarely seen but felt all year round.

Helena McLay, owner of Dae it Yersel, said: “These young people are the future of the town and local area and we are delighted to be able to showcase and award their in many cases unseen work in the community, and to inspire other youngsters to get involved.”

Dunoon Presents manager, Colin Moulson, added: “Our commitment to the local community is an important part of what we do. These awards are now a well-established way to recognise the invaluable work that happens 52 weeks of the year.”

Winners will be announced later in the season, with organisers encouraging residents, clubs, schools and community groups to put forward nominees who make a real difference on the ground.

If you would like to moninate someon for either of these awards then email [email protected] by Wednesday, November 5 and state which award youre nominating by describing the nominees contribution and why they deserve
