Patchwork makes history with Gold nurture award

DUNOON’S Patchwork 2-5 Nursery has become the first partner nursery in Argyll and Bute to achieve a prestigious Gold award recognising its nurturing approach to children’s education and wellbeing.

The Dunoon nursery was awarded Argyll and Bute Council’s Our Children, Their Nurturing Education: Gold Nurture Informed Award following a successful accreditation visit this week.

The award recognises settings where nurturing approaches have become embedded throughout their culture, environment and everyday interactions with children.

Staff at Patchwork said the achievement reflected their commitment to putting children’s emotional wellbeing at the heart of the nursery.

A spokesperson said: “Being the first partner nursery in Argyll and Bute to receive this recognition is a testament to the dedication, passion and hard work of our entire staff team, who aim every day to place emotional wellbeing at the heart of our provision.

“Achieving Gold status shows that nurturing approaches are deeply embedded into our culture, our environment and our daily interactions.

“We know that for children to learn, explore and grow, they must first feel entirely safe, valued and understood.

“We are very proud to say, ‘We are Nurture Informed.’”

Helping to drive the work has been Patchwork’s own Nurture Committee, made up of youngsters Millie Karn, Ivy Reynolds, Alfie Churchill, Nico Dominick and Jack McGeeney.

And the nursery is not stopping at Gold. Having secured the latest accreditation, Patchwork has already set its sights on achieving the programme’s fourth and final level – Platinum.
