ONE of Argyll and Bute’s best-known and most respected figures in piping has been recognised for her tireless dedication to supporting the next generation of musicians at Dunoon Grammar School.
Annie Grant, a familiar and much-loved figure in the local piping community, was presented with a special token of appreciation on Monday evening in recognition of the countless hours she has devoted to the school’s pipe band.
The presentation celebrated Annie’s longstanding commitment to encouraging young pipers, creating opportunities for them to develop their talents and helping to keep Cowal’s proud piping traditions alive.
Much of Annie’s work takes place behind the scenes, but her contribution has played an invaluable role in supporting the young musicians who represent Dunoon Grammar School at performances and competitions.
Dunoon Grammar School was among those paying tribute to Annie following the presentation.
In a statement, the school said: “Our Pipe Band is such an important part of DGS and our wider community, and it simply wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and commitment of people like Annie.
“The time, encouragement and opportunities she gives our young people are invaluable.
“A huge thank you, Annie, for everything you do to keep our proud piping tradition alive and thriving.”
