Plans revealed to replace Portincaple home

PLANS have been revealed for a Portincaple house to be demolished and a new property put in its place.

Struan, at Feuins Road, is the subject of the application to Argyll and Bute Council by Brooks Tadlock Building and Joinery, with the current building described as being in a poor state of repair.

Council officers are expected to rule on the application in early 2026, with the public now able to view plans and submit feedback.

A supporting statement by HMA Architects said: “The new house is situated on the site of the original cottage, which was in a poor state of repair and the decision has now been made to replace it with a storey and half house with singe storey lounge to the back.

“The site is adjacent on Feuins Road. The access will be unchanged and is the existing access to the site.

“The design will be for a storey and half house with dormer windows and a rear single storey lounge looking over the loch. The new house will be rotated 10 degrees form the original to take advantage of the best views modern extension to the rear.

“The site layout largely replicates the original layout of the plot, the access and movement within the site will remain as existing.”

The statement added: “There is a wide variety of houses in Portincaple, they are of varying ages and styles with very few being similar to each other, we have, therefore, designed an individual house.

“The finishes will be render and stone, with a tiled, slate effect roof. To the rear large picture windows look out over the lochs.”
