Police warning as road offences rise in Cowal and Bute

POLICE have warned drivers to take care on local roads as warmer weather brings an increase in traffic across Cowal and Bute. Officers said a number of road traffic offences have been detected in Dunoon, Rothesay and surrounding areas over the past fortnight.
These include parking on public footpaths, careless driving, driving without insurance, no MOT, speeding, failing to report an accident, failing to stop after an accident, and using a mobile phone while driving.
Road policing units are now set to increase their presence in the area, with targeted patrols planned to promote safer driving and identify potential hazards.
Police are urging motorists to make sure their vehicles are roadworthy before setting off, and to check that all required tests, insurance and documentation are up to date.
