Port Bannatyne competition nears knockouts

THE ROTHESAY Motor Services Winter League reaches a crucial point this weekend at Port Bannatyne Golf Club, with the final round of league fixtures taking place on Sunday before the competition moves into the quarter-final stage.

With only a couple of pairings already assured of their place in the knockout rounds, qualification remains wide open, and several teams will be keeping a close eye on results elsewhere as they battle for the remaining spots.

The closely contested nature of this year’s league has set up an intriguing finale, with tight margins across the table ensuring plenty still at stake when players take to the course.

Sunday’s tee-off times are as follows: 8.30am, – Roddie & Chrissy v Hector & Al; 8.40am, – Davie K & Neil McKirdy v Robert & Gordy; 8.50am, – Stuart & Kalum v Davie D & Graham F; 9.00am, – Sam & Iain v Neil McKay & Martin Young; 9.10am, – Ewan & Duncan v Graham D & Davie R; 9.20am, – Davie G & Neil W v Jack & Gordon; 9.30am, – Carl & Colin v John W & Alex Morrison; 9.40am, – John B & Matthew D v Larry & Stephen; 9.50am, – Sean & Martin v Phil & Stewart.

Club members have also expressed their thanks to league sponsors Rothesay Motor Services, with thanks also extended to Leighton and his family for their continued support of winter golf at Port Bannatyne.

With quarter-final places on the line, Sunday promises to deliver a fitting conclusion to the league phase of the competition.
