Port Bannatyne Golf Club report: Winter league gets going at third attempt

FINALLY, after three failed attempts, the Rothesay Motor Services Winter League quarter-finals got underway at Port Bannatyne Golf Club last week.

Results in the 4 quarter finals were: Graham Dunn & David Rutherford bt Sam Jamieson & Iain McFarlane 6&5; Neil McKay & Martin Young bt Alex Morrison Cowan & John Whitelaw 2&1;David Greer & Neil Whitelaw bt John Black & Matthew Dunn 1 up; David Driver & Graham Fisher bt Sean Lawrence & Martin Myatt 1up.

The play off places for minor prizes were as follows: Duncan Lyon & Ewan Irvine bt Robert McArthur & Gordon McIntyre 4&3; Jack Standaloft & Gordon Currie bt Stewart Izat & Phil Williams 4&3; Hector Whitelaw & Allan Stewart bt David Kilpatrick & Neil Mckirdy 2&1.

Semi-finals will be played this coming Sunday, weather permitting, and are as follows: 8:30am, – Graham Dunn & David Rutherford v David Driver & Graham Fisher; 8:40am, – Neil McKay & Martin Young v David Greer & Neil Whitelaw.

5th-8th place play offs: 8:50am, – Sam Jamieson & Iain McFarlane v Sean Lawrence & Martin Myatt; 9am, – John Whitelaw & Alex Morrison Cowan v John Black & Matthew Dunn; 9:10am, – Allan Stewart & Hector Whitelaw v Jack Standaloft & Gordon Currie; 9:20am, – Ewan Irvine & Duncan Lyon v Larry Devine & Stephen Dunn.

Wooden spoon play offs: 9:30am, – David Kilpatrick & Neil Mckirdy v Stewart Izat & Phil Williams; 9:40am, – Robert McArthur & Gordon McIntyre v Kalum Ledicott & Stuart Gilchrist.
