DESPITE torrential weather, a strong turnout of golfers took to the course at Port Bannatyne Golf Club on Sunday for the Hector Linden Trophy.
Just shy of 20 players braved the heavy rain to compete, with the top four net scores earning places in the semi-finals of the competition.
The course remained in excellent condition throughout, with players praising the work of greenkeepers Duncan and Graham for keeping it in top shape despite the challenging conditions.
At the end of play, Alex Morrison Cowan and Alan Stewart led the way after both carding impressive net scores of 66. Martin Myatt followed closely on 67, while David Greer secured the final semi-final spot with a net 68.
The semi-final draw will see Alex Morrison Cowan take on David Greer, while Martin Myatt faces Alan Stewart.
Attention now turns to another major date in the club calendar this Sunday, when Port Bannatyne Golf Club hosts the Argyll and Bute Spring Meeting.
The event is expected to attract golfers from across the region, with the clubhouse opening from 7.30am, offering full bar and food facilities for competitors and visitors alike.
