Primary schools battle it out in swimming gala

ON THURSDAY, June 4, Dunoon Amateur Swimming Club held an Inter-Schools Gala for primary school medals and trophies inaugurated last year.

The competition was held for club members who were all proudly competing for their own schools and included the older members who represented their former primaries.

Competition was fierce and swimming for their schools brought out the very best in the swimmers, with some fantastic races and huge personal best times.

Medals were presented for each category: P1-3; P4/5, P6/7, and for older swimmers DGS S1/2, S3/4 and S5/6 or older.

The final winning school was Kirn Primary School, whose head teacher, Mrs Taylor, was there to accept the trophy along with her victorious team. Second place went to Dunoon, with Toward in third.

A spokesperson for the club said: “A band of parents volunteered to assist with timekeeping and poolside assistance and thanks must go to them for their contribution to the smooth running of a most enjoyable and rewarding meet for all those participating and spectating.”
