Storm Boelo leaves three holes out of play at Bute Golf Course

STORM Boelo has left its mark on Bute Golf Course, with three holes declared unplayable after the weekend’s severe weather caused damage to the course.

The club was forced to close on Saturday and Sunday, October 24 and 25, following a Met Office weather warning as strong winds and heavy rain battered the island.

Although the course had been expected to reopen on Monday, an inspection on October 26 revealed that storm damage had left holes two, three and four unfit for play.

Golfers wishing to return to the course have instead been advised to play a shortened six-hole layout, using holes one, five, six, seven, eight and nine.

In a statement issued following the inspection, the club said: “I regret to advise that the course has suffered damage during Storm Boelo. As a result holes 2, 3 & 4 are unplayable.”

The club thanked members and visitors for their understanding and confirmed that a further update would be issued in due course.

The extent of the damage and the likely timescale for restoring the affected holes have not yet been confirmed.

The disruption adds to the growing list of sporting facilities and events affected by Storm Boelo, which brought widespread disruption to Cowal, Bute and the wider west of Scotland over
the weekend.
