Strachur history brought to life

PEOPLE are being invited to step back in time during a special history walk exploring the rich heritage of Strachur and the surrounding area.

The event  will guide visitors through key locations in the village, sharing stories linked to General John Campbell and the development of landmarks including Strachur House, the church and the Old Inn.

The walk will also include visits to the Old Mill and the Dun.

A major highlight of the event will focus on a recent archaeological dig which uncovered the site of the Strachur House washerwoman’s cottage.

Organisers say a number of interesting finds were discovered during the excavation, with the artefacts set to go on public display at Strachur Memorial Hall alongside a range of other historical exhibits and information tables.

The event has been organised by Strachur History Society, with organisers hoping it will give both residents and visitors a deeper insight into the area’s past.
