STRACHUR Hub marked a significant milestone earlier this month as it celebrated its 10th anniversary with a special lunch at Strachur Memorial Hall.
More than 50 people attended the event, on Thursday, March 12, which followed the Hub’s regular Thursday morning session — a lively mix of exercise, boccia, tai chi and choir that has become a weekly fixture for many in the community.
Each week, around 40 people come together at the Hub, not only to take part in. activities but to enjoy the all- important social connection and shared lunch.
Attendees arrive either independently or via the Hub’s Community Minibus, with additional support from Interloch, which brings a group through from Dunoon.
Beyond its weekly gatherings, the Hub also organises a range of outings throughout the year. These include relaxed coffee mornings at Here We Are, as well as trips further afield, offering participants
the chance to explore and socialise in new settings.
At the heart of Strachur Hub’s success is a dedicated team of volunteers, whose enthusiasm and commitment ensure that every session runs safely and smoothly. Their contribution has been instrumental in creating a welcoming, inclusive environment over the past decade.
All activities and services are provided free of charge, made possible through HSCP funding and the continued generosity of donors.
In addition to its social and physical activities, the Hub also delivers a much- needed mental health counselling service. With NHS provision unable to meet growing demand, Strachur Medical Practice refers patients directly to the Hub, ensuring local people can access vital support when they need it most.
With strong foundations in place, Strachur Hub now looks ahead with confidence, aiming to continue making a difference for many years to come.
