UPPER COWAL Bowling Club welcomed players from across the peninsula as it hosted its annual Ladies Day on Sunday, June 14.
Held a couple of weeks earlier than usual due to other commitments, the event benefited from a welcome spell of good weather as 30 ladies representing the majority of Cowal clubs gathered in Sandbank for a day of bowling and social hospitality.
The day’s proceedings were led by club president Helen McVicar, who, alongside her team of helpers, provided much of the catering for the event. Club vice-president Tom Hamilton and the club’s male members also played a key role in supporting the day and serving participants.
Following a successful afternoon of competition, Tom Hamilton presented prizes to the day’s winners and place- getters.
Liz’s bonus prize went to Liz Oliphant, Alex Atkinson and Isobel Lauder.
The losing semi-finalists were Helen Armstrong, Jane Campbell and Eilidh Simpson, alongside Christine McEwen, Dee Mitchell and Alison Strachan.
Runner-up honours were claimed by Sheila Hamilton, Joan Evans and Ann- Margaret Houston.
Taking victory on the day were Norah McCluskey, Brenda Higgs and club president Helen McVicar.
