PLANS for seven wind turbines to be sited at Taynuilt have been recommended for approval by council officers.
The proposal by Beaufort Ltd for the structures, and the decommissioning of the existing Beinn Ghlas wind farm, will be heard by councillors at a meeting.
Twenty-six expressions of support have been received for the application for planning permission, along with three objections.
Members of Argyll and Bute Council’s planning, protective services and licensing committee will consider the application on Tuesday, September 15.
A council official said in a handling report: “All consultees are satisfied that planning permission can be granted for the proposal subject to appropriate planning conditions.
“The proposal is consistent with the primary renewable energy policies of National Planning Framework 4 and Local Development Plan 2, and other relevant policies providing the recommended conditions are attached.
“This proposal is EIA (environmental impact assessment) development, and the determination of this application is also subject to the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) regulations 2017 (EIAR).
“There is a requirement to examine the environmental information submitted and reach a reasoned conclusion on the significant environmental effects of the proposal including those matters set out in FEI (further environmental information) relating to the proposed grid connection.
“The applicant has engaged with important stakeholders such as NatureScot and has reduced the scale of the development to respect and ensure no adverse impact upon protected species or protected landscapes. This is noted and welcomed by officers.”
The report added: “In light of the above, it is considered that the proposal is consistent with planning policy, will not cause unacceptable and significant environmental impacts, and that conditional planning permission should be granted.”
