Warmer Homes Scheme brings relief to hundreds of local households

MORE than 1,000 households across Argyll and Bute have benefited from the Scottish Government’s Warmer Homes Scotland programme – with many receiving help to make their homes warmer and cheaper to heat through the winter.

Figures released last week showed that 1,032 homes in Argyll and Bute have benefited from the scheme over the past decade, receiving energy efficiency upgrades designed to tackle fuel poverty and improve comfort.

Local MSP Jenni Minto welcomed the impact of the scheme, which provides a tailored, step-by-step service to identify where improvements can be made and arranges for work to be carried out.

She explained: “The scheme is designed to help those living in, or at risk of, fuel poverty through the installation of energy efficiency improvements. This support can help people across the constituency to stay warm, make their home more energy efficient and, in turn, help them to better manage their energy bills.

“I’d encourage everyone to contact Home Energy Scotland to check if they are eligible to receive help under the scheme, as the improvements it offers could make a real difference this winter and in the years to come.”

Support can include the installation of new central heating systems and renewable technologies such as air source heat pumps, with help available across all property types, including rural and hard-to-heat homes common in Argyll and Bute.

All work is delivered by registered local contractors and independently checked to meet strict quality standards. Customer feedback remains high, with 99 per cent of households last year reporting they were satisfied or very satisfied with

the improvements made. The scheme continues to play a key role in reducing fuel poverty while cutting energy costs for households across the region. Warmworks’ Chief

Executive, Ross Armstrong, added: “The Warmer Homes Scotland scheme has been helping people right across Scotland to feel warmer and more comfortable in their homes for more than 10 years, and the last 12 months has seen a record year of delivery with more than 7,300 Scottish homes supported to improve their energy efficiency.

“This translates as more than 14,000 individual energy efficiency improvements, which are helping our customers save an average of £466 against their annual energy bills. That’s the equivalent of putting a month’s worth of groceries back in a family’s pocket.

“At a time when we begin to depend more on our heating at home, we’d encourage everyone across the Argyll and Bute area to check their eligibility now for the Warmer Homes Scotland scheme by getting in touch with Home Energy Scotland on 0808 808 2282.”
