CHALLENGING conditions played their part at Rothesay Golf Club over the weekend, with high scores recorded as strong winds and poor weather swept across the course.
In the Guy Speirs Trophy, players battled the elements throughout, with scoring reflecting the difficult conditions. Iain Simpson took top spot with a score of 75, finishing ahead of Jimmy Ewing who carded 87-9 for 78. Stuart Wilson claimed third place with an identical net score of 78 after a round of 87-9.
Conditions improved slightly for the Seafoods Trophy, where scoring was notably lower. Kevin Queen produced the best round of the competition to take victory with an excellent 75-8 for 67. Jimmy Ewing continued his consistent form to finish runner-up on 80-9 for 71, while Craig Charker secured third place with 75-3 for 72.
Meanwhile, the Subscription Medal, sponsored by Billy Leckie and Liz McLean, fell victim to the weather and was postponed. The competition has now been rescheduled and will take place next weekend.
