ColGlen put six past Strathglass

COLGLEN MARKED their last game of the 2025 season on Saturday with a convincing 6-0 win at home against Strathglass.

After their last three previous disappointing results, the Glen were in no mood to slip up against the basement side of the National Division, with relegation already confirmed.

With manager Ronnie MacVicar unavailable, the injured Andrew MacVicar took over reigns for the day, and took the opportunity to mix things up.

Full forward prolific goalscorer, Neily McNaughton, found himself at full back, while dogged defender Murray McClymont suffered was moved up across the halfway line to half forward.

The home team wasted little time in getting going, with Marcus Keith scoring after only ten minutes, followed up quickly by Scott MacVicar, and then Keith again.

Sandy Paterson bagged two before half-time ensuring the Glen were cruising by the interval.

However, Strathglass dug in for the second-half, and although the boys in yellow and black played some fine shinty only MacVicar scored again to bring the total tally to six.

Scott Symons in the Glen goal had little to do and had an easy task to keep a clean sheet.

All in all it was a good team performance, but it was Scott MacVicar, sponsored by The Colintraive, who stood out in centre to pick up the man of the match award.

The club would like to thank Neil Ferguson for sponsoring the match, the team are also very grateful to their ever growing band of supporters who have followed them so loyally throughout the year.

Overall, it has been a greatly improved season for ColGlen.

The small outfit from Colintraive and Glendaruel, who are the only single team club competing at national level, have continued to progress and punch well above their weight.

Indeed, even after being greatly hindered with numerous injuries in recent weeks, they finished the season currently in second place–the all- important minimum position required to qualify for promotion up to the Premiership.

However, with Bute and Glasgow Mid Argyll close behind in third and fourth place respectively, and both with games in hand, the Glen could be overtaken at the last.
