ARGYLL COMMUNITY Housing Association, (ACHA), marked Scottish Housing Day 2025 with a month-long programme of community events across Argyll and Bute, celebrating this year’s theme, ‘Everyone Needs Good Neighbours.’
The gatherings, which ran through September and early October aimed to build connections and highlight inclusion and belonging.
Residents were welcomed with tea, coffee and home baking, while partner organisations staffed information stands offering advice and practical support.
Children’s crafts and colouring kept younger visitors busy, and adults were invited to complete ACHA’s ‘Good Neighbours’ survey and meet others in their local area.
The programme was delivered with support from a wide network of partners, including MECOPP, Strathclyde Police, Dochas Centre Lochgilphead, Dove Centre Oban, Carers Centres, Jean’s Bothy, Plastic Free Helensburgh, Bute Advice Centre, Argyll and Bute Council’s Resettlement and Environmental Teams, Argyll Advocacy Service, ALI Energy, Scottish Fire & Rescue, and local foodbanks.
In addition to the indoor activities, there were a number of hands-on environmental efforts. In Dunoon, a community litter pick was organised in collaboration with the Dunoon Development Trust.
Michelle Mundie, ACHA’s Chief Executive, commented: “This year’s Scottish Housing Day is a great reminder that communities thrive when people come together, not just through housing, but through kindness, trust, and shared purpose. A huge thank you to everyone in the community and to our partners, who helped make these events such a success.”
