For Bute funding boost supports island groups

FIVE Isle of Bute organisations have received a welcome funding boost thanks to the continued support of the local community.

Charity For Bute has awarded a total of £4,200 to groups and projects across the island, helping support youth opportunities, arts, sport, emergency response and cultural activities.

Bute Youth Theatre, which has held workshops in the Parish Church Hall since 2022, received £1,000 towards the cost of taking part in the 2026 National Festival of Youth Theatre at Eden Court in Inverness this July.

The Isle of Bute Artists’ Collective (IBAC) was also awarded £1,000 to support advertising costs for this year’s popular Open Studio Trail, which will take place on July 18 and 19.

The Isle of Bute Resilience Team received £1,000 towards the maintenance costs of its emergency vehicle, helping volunteers continue their work supporting the community.

A further £800 was awarded to The Anne McIlroy School of Dance to assist students travelling to Basel in Switzerland to take part in an international event.

The Isle of Bute Triathlon, which took place on May 10, also received £400 towards the organisation of this year’s event.

A spokesperson for For Bute thanked everyone who continues to support the charity and make donations like these possible.

They said the funding “would not have been possible without the generosity of the public” who donate items and shop with For Bute.

The For Bute charity shop is open Monday to Saturday, from 10am until 4pm.
