A SPECIAL citizenship ceremony was held at Castle House in Dunoon on Tuesday, August 11, as Azka Memon officially became a British citizen.
Originally from Pakistan, Azka arrived in Dunoon in 2019 after previously living in London, where she worked as an oncology doctor for nine years.
She later continued her studies, completing further doctoral and PhD-level study, and now lives in Dunoon where she is a full-time carer for her husband, Kenneth Mugridge.
Kenneth joined Azka for the special occasion, alongside friends Emily Forrest, John Kelsall and Pat Kelsall.
The ceremony was conducted by Dunoon registrars, with Councillor Ross Moreland and Depute Lieutenant Peter McDill also in attendance.
Councillor Moreland said: “This is one of the better duties I have to undertake. It is a privilege to be involved in such an important and emotional ceremony like this.”
Registrar Linda Mollins conducted the proceedings, marking an important milestone for Azka after making Dunoon her home seven years ago.
