YOUNG singers and musicians from Innellan, Dunoon and Sandbank will take to the stage for a fundraising concert at Innellan Village Hall on Saturday, October 17 at 7pm.
The concert promises a varied programme, with music by Dolly Parton, Carole King, Billy Joel, Olivia Rodrigo and the Cadillac Three, alongside songs from Pocahontas and the Lion King.
The performers are students of local piano and singing teacher Gill, who has taught people of all ages and abilities for more than 40 years. An accomplished classical pianist and soprano, she has performed across the UK and overseas, including in London, Scandinavia, Finland and Abu Dhabi.
Gill made her home in Innellan nine years ago after retiring and continues to share her love of music through lessons with local students.
Alongside celebrating the young performers, the evening will support an important cause. Domestic abuse can affect people of any age or background and often remains hidden, even from friends, relatives and neighbours. It can include emotional and psychological abuse and coercive control as well as physical violence, with effects that can last long after an abusive relationship has ended.
Organisations such as Argyll and Bute Women’s Aid provide vital support, helping survivors find safety and rebuild their lives.
Gill hopes the community will come along to enjoy an evening of music, encourage the young performers and raise funds for the charity.
She would like to thank James Finnegan, of the band Outside the Original, for providing technical support and accompanying some of the singers on guitar, and Anoushka Havinden for the poster and ticket design.
Thanks also go to the students for their enthusiasm and participation: Lily from Glasgow, James’s daughter; Lily from Dunoon; Zoe from Sandbank; Evie from Innellan; Keira from Dunoon; and Nathan and Fiona from Sandbank.
Tickets are available from the Lido, Innellan.
