DUNOON Community Shed will take centre stage at the Greenock and District Model Railway Club’s 40th anniversary show, exhibiting one of the Shed’s layouts alongside a member’s personal layout.
The show runs Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19, at Lyle Kirk, Union Street, Greenock, with organisers billing the 2025 edition as their biggest and best yet.
Exhibitors from across the UK will showcase a wide range of working model railway layouts, from compact shunting puzzles to large scenic set-pieces. Visitors can meet modellers, pick up tips, and learn about the craft behind track planning, scenery, wiring and control systems.
A host of traders will be on hand, including book and magazine retailers, plus Meccano enthusiasts demonstrating classic engineering kits. Representatives from Dunoon Community Shed will be available across the weekend to talk about their builds and community projects.
Catering is provided by the Lyle Gateway team, serving hot and cold refreshments throughout the event.
The Dunoon Observer and Isle of Bute News has teamed up with Greenock Model Railway Club and are offering a free family ticket. Entries are by email only, and the question to be answered is: What was the name of the big Green Engine in the Thomas the Tank Engine series?
Email your answers to [email protected] by midnight on Thursday, October 16. The winner will be contacted by email and after the show all emails received will be deleted.
