STRACHUR-DUNOON endured a difficult afternoon on Bute as the home side ran out convincing 6-2 winners in their latest league encounter.
Facing a youthful and energetic Bute team, the Cowal side found themselves up against well-organised opponents who struck three times in each half to secure a 6-2 victory.
Despite the defeat, Strachur-Dunoon did have their moments in front of goal. Roddy Cairns opened the scoring after 22 minutes, netting his seventh goal of the season with a close-range effort that deceived the Bute goalkeeper.
The visitors added a second goal in the second half through Sandy Paterson, who finished neatly to give his side a brief lift, but Bute’s clinical finishing ultimately proved decisive.
Reflecting on the result, the club acknowledged it was a disappointing day but vowed to learn from the experience as attention turns towards the second half of the season, which gets under way later this month.
One major positive for Strachur-Dunoon was the performance of winger Spencer Thoms. The youngster impressed throughout the 90 minutes with an energetic display and was deservedly named the club’s Man of the Match.
Thoms, who is sponsored by Caledonian Laser Services, was praised for his commitment and quality despite the difficult result.
The club also took time to congratulate ColGlen Shinty Club after they secured their first-ever Premiership victory with a 4-2 win over Lochaber on Saturday.
Strachur-Dunoon will now look to regroup and return refreshed for the remainder of their campaign.
