PLANS have been submitted for a new building containing four small business units on Bute.
Poole Joiners Ltd have applied to Argyll and Bute Council for planning permission for the site at the Barone Road Industrial Estate in Rothesay.
The authority’s planning officers are expected to rule on the application by early October, with the public now able to view plans and submit feedback.
A supporting statement lodged with the application described the proposal as “Construction of a 34m x 13m steel portal frame building divided into four commercial units.
“Black metal cladding, 4m eaves height, each unit with workshop space, WC, independent access and two parking spaces.
“Vacant land within Barone Road Industrial Estate suitable for employment use. Modern industrial design using durable low-maintenance materials compatible with the estate.”
The statement also said that the use would be “Flexible workshops for small businesses and trades looking to establish or expand.”
The document added: “The northern boundary adjoining Barone Road contains mature trees that have experienced significant unmanaged growth.
“Sympathetic tree management is proposed to reduce height and spread where necessary to maintain safe clearance from the building, prevent overhanging branches, reduce storm risk, improve maintenance and retain an attractive landscaped boundary. Any works will follow arboricultural best practice and any required permissions.”
