More donations from For Bute

Editor – A total of £7,850 has been donated to good causes on the Island during the last few months. The Tartan Festival, to be held from May 15-17 this year, has received £500 towards the cost of equipment, flags, and banners. £1,450 went to the Rothesay and District Novice Juvenile Pipe Band to assist in buying such things as band waistcoats, band spec. capes or guards flashes. These items will allow the young people to take part and perform at various events locally as well as throughout Scotland.

£100 was also donated to Crafty Hands for arts and crafts materials which are used in the workshops held at the Anchor Tavern Community Hub. The history of Art talks, also held at the Anchor Community Hub in Port Bannatyne, received £400.

The Argyll and Bute Women’s Bowling

Association were given £1,000 to help with transport for away events on the mainland, as well as the hosting of visiting players on Bute. The Ardbeg Bowling Club also received funding, but for help towards the purchase of a green lawn mower, with the donation worth £2,000.

Another maintenance project received funding, as £2,400 went towards new timber and painting materials to replace the façade of the clubhouse of the Bute Golf Club at Kingarth.

For Bute would like to thank all their customers for their support, because without it For Bute would not be able to exist, so thank you very much for your help. For Bute can be found at the corner of Tower Street and Victoria Street, number 39 and we are open Monday to Saturday from 10am-4pm.
