Ramage battles through thrilling bout in Aberdeen

Dunoon Amateur Boxing Club travelled to Aberdeen at the weekend for Connor Ramage’s third bout with Cain Boxing.

As both boxers waited to go ringside, there was a noticeable size and weight difference between Connor and his opponent, a Scottish powerlifter and strongman who has now turned his hand to boxing.

However, Connor refused to let the difference in size get into his head.

In the super-heavyweight category, there can be dramatic differences in size, shape and weight, but Connor stepped into the ring determined to put on a performance.

The opening exchanges saw both boxers trade punches before Kyle came in strongly. Connor absorbed the shots well and quickly got back to business.

The crowd were left wondering how both fighters were still going as the bout progressed, with the exchanges becoming increasingly intense.

Connor opened the third round strongly, using excellent head movement and landing combinations to the head and body.

By the middle of the third round, the exchanges had become faster and more powerful, with both boxers giving everything they had right through to the final bell.

Dunoon Amateur Boxing Club were delighted with Connor’s performance and were not disappointed when the home team was announced as the winner.

Connor was happy with how he performed and will now continue to work with Jordan as he looks to improve and bring his weight down.

He was also delighted to be heading home to celebrate the bout with a well-earned beer.

A spokesperson for the club said: “We at DABC are very proud of Connor.

“It was a thrilling fight and the crowd comments we received afterwards certainly agreed.

“Connor is a talented boxer with great technical abilities and a great future ahead of him.”

Attention now turns to next weekend, when Dani will take part in an exhibition bout, while another young DABC boxer will make their debut.

The club will announce further details in the coming days.
