The Colintraive wins Scottish inn of the year

The Colintraive has been shortlisted for Inn of the Year UK at the coveted AA Hospitality Awards.

It was one of three Inns and the only Scottish Inn to be selected.

Hosted by AA Hotel & Hospitality Services, the star-studded evening was presented by renowned TV presenter and broadcaster Vernon Kay.

The night celebrated the most outstanding hotels, spas, restaurants, inns and B&Bs, along with the people who drive them forward.

With over 900 guests, the event highlighted the very best in British hospitality, honouring achievements across 18 diverse categories.

Key awards included AA Restaurant of the Year, AA Hotel of the Year, and the AA Sustainable Award, reflecting the industry’s commitment to innovation, quality, and environmental responsibility.

The Colintraive is a family run small inn with four rooms, 25 minutes from Dunoon and just by the ferry terminal over to the Isle of Bute.

It has been awarded one rosette for the standard of its food for four years consecutively.

Joe Burnett, chef and owner, said: “We are stunned and so humbled to be at these prestigious awards and would like to thank the AA for shortlisting us for this award.

“It’s such an honour the trust that has been placed upon us.”

Joe, a chef from London, runs The Colintraive alongside his partner, Clare who is from Greenock.

They moved to Argyll to have their family and love all Argyll has to offer, particularly the quality of local produce.

Simon Numphud, managing director at AA Media, expressed his pride in the resilience and creativity shown by the UK’s hospitality sector in 2025: “This celebration highlights the passion, creativity and resilience that defines UK hospitality.

“The teams have turned challenges into opportunities, inspiring us with their innovation and dedication.

“Congratulations to all winners, nominees and new rosette holders – your achievements deserve recognition today and set a shining example for the future of our industry.”
