THE Oakbank Community Inn in Sandbank will be the venue for a ‘pop-up’ restaurant run by chef Mark McGrath, former owner of the Local Hero cafe in Dunoon.
Mark, who originally hails from Paisley and grew up in the US, is well known and regarded in the town and has established a reputation based on his innovative approach to creating tasty, affordable and some healthier dishes which try to support various dietary needs.
Mark explained: “It will be a new menu at the Oakbank,” explained Mark “but there will be a few dishes from the original menu. It will evolve over time but first up, we need to establish that there’s a demand for my cooking on this side of town.
“It’s a new challenge and we hope as many folks as possible will give us a go and try out Cowal’s newest food destination in a venue that has been transformed over the past year by volunteers all working tirelessly to make their community inn a success.”
Sarah Norman of the Oakbank committee commented; “This is great news and we hope Mark’s pop-up will thrive. Providing food has been a long-held aim of everyone involved with the Oakbank and the food doesn’t get much better than Mark’s creations.”
The new pop-up restaurant will be open Thursdays to Saturdays 11am to 8pm until further notice.
