Around 2am on July 25, following a disturbance at Queens Court, a 27-year-old man was arrested and released on an undertaking to appear at court for assault. A 38-year-old man was also arrested and held in custody to appear at court for assaulting two police officers and acting in a threatening and abusive manner.

Road Safety

A number of road traffic offences have been detected in the past week, namely failing to wear a seatbelt.

To continue ensuring road safety, Road Policing units will be increasing their presence in the area with targeted patrols. These efforts aim to promote responsible driving habits and identify potential hazards. If you plan to get behind the wheel, please make sure your vehicle is roadworthy, with all necessary tests and documentation up to date.

Isle of Bute Police Report

Around 1.23am on July 23, a 59-year-old man was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) for urinating in the street near Montague Street.

Road Safety

One traffic offence was detected in Bute over the past week, namely driving without a valid insurance policy.

Driving without these legal requirements poses a significant risk to road safety and can result in hefty fines, penalty points and vehicle seizure. Local officers are continuing to monitor the roads to ensure all road users are fully compliant with the law.

Witness Appeal

Police are appealing for anyone with information about a housebreaking that took place at 34 Montague Street, Rothesay, Isle of Bute. The incident happened between 8am and 9.15am on May 22, 2026.

Police would like to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area or witnessed the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Hamilton at Rothesay Police Station by calling 101.
