Editor – Through the pages of your newspaper, please may I sing the praises of Interloch Transport. They run a very efficient, friendly service transporting people to hospital appointments, shops, hairdressers, etc.
Over the past few months, I have found myself needing transport to various Glasgow hospitals, both as an outpatient and an inpatient. I have been treated with respect and courtesy each time.
The cost to attend the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital is £110. Yes, this is a lot of money. However, Interloch will complete the necessary paperwork for the NHS Highland expenses department and send the form on to them. After approximately two to three weeks, you will receive a refund of all but £10 of the cost.
Obviously, there are people who just do not have that sort of money, or if they have, cannot afford to wait for the refund. So, my question is, is there anyone out there with the legal expertise to set up a scheme whereby these people could be helped?
The scheme would meet the cost, with the person paying £10 towards it, and a system in place so that the refund went directly back into the scheme, not the person. The scheme could be funded by voluntary contributions. Should the scheme be closed down, any contributions would be returned to the person who made the original contribution.
If anyone can help with this, I’m sure that it would be very much appreciated. Perhaps they could contact Interloch directly with any suitable ideas.
