TWO talented young dancers from Dunoon have returned home with outstanding results after representing their school at the ScotDance USA National Championship in Dallas, Texas.
Erin and Ayla Brolly, who train with the Katrina Martin School of Highland Dancing, enjoyed a memorable trip, with both dancers achieving impressive performances on the international stage.
Erin competed in three competitions and enjoyed remarkable success throughout the event. She won the Solo Choreography title for her age group with her dance, From Dallas to Dunoon: Far From Home, choreographed by her teacher, Katrina Martin. She then finished runner-up in the 12/13 years National Premiership competition before going on to win the Highland Championship, earning the title of North American Open Champion in the 12/13 years age group.
Speaking after her success, Erin said: “I feel really proud to win the championship and to know that all the hard work is really paying off. I just hope it continues to pay off for Cowal.”
Younger sister Ayla also showed great determination after breaking her toe on the first day of the trip. Despite the injury, she competed in the Pre-Championship competition, earning two sixth-place finishes, before going on to compete in the Championship itself, where she achieved her first-ever championship points.
Reflecting on the experience, Ayla said: “I really liked the experience and being able to go to the lazy river after the dancing competitions.”
The championships marked a highly successful trip for both dancers, showcasing not only their talent and dedication but also the strength of Highland dancing in Cowal.
