THE BEST of the Brandanes came to the fore on Saturday as Rothesay welcomed hoards of visitors for Bute Highland Games.
Competitors and spectators alike flocked to the Playing Fields for the annual event, with the 10K road race, heavy events and highland dancing among an array of traditional competitions on display.
Within the contests were several local competitors who shone bright, with the pick of the bunch being Dee Wakas stellar performance in the 10K road race.
The Brandane took home the Fastest Male and Fastest Local Male awards after completing the course in a sensational time of 32mins and 12secs.
Elsewhere, Rothesay and District Pipe Band came first in the marching and discipline section, with the novice juveniles, grade three, grade two claiming third place in their sectors alongside adult drum major Campbell Gillies.

The Gill and Edith Fowler Memorial Cup, presented annually to the fastest sprinter in the 800m, was won by Lily Davies of Greenock Glenpark Harriers.

Overall winner, Angus McInroy, was presented with the Duke of Rothesay Trophy and the Craigie Macfie Memorial Trophy.
Brian Docherty received the John Macfie Memorial Trophy for the best throw of the Scots Hammer, recording 29.57m.
