Rhu farm toilet block replacement plans approved

PLANS for a toilet block to be demolished and replaced with new facilities at a Rhu farm have been approved by council officials.

Ardencaple Livery submitted the proposal for a new changing places facility at their premises on Ardencaple Farm, along with new welfare facilities and a kitchen area.

Argyll and Bute Council has now awarded planning permission after no objections or expressions of support were received from the public.

One of the authority’s planning officers said in a handling report: “The proposal is to demolish an existing WC facility which is utilised by an established livery business and is attached to an existing garage/store and to erect a new building to house welfare facilities; including a kitchen area, a WC and a separate changing places toilet to support the existing livery business.

“The proposed welfare building will be located directly adjacent to the existing garage/store where the existing WC facility is proposed to be removed. The proposed detached building will be located on an area of gravel within the livery yard.

“The proposed welfare building is located within an established livery yard which comprises of existing farm and agricultural buildings. It is considered that the proposed development in terms of appearance, scale, massing and siting will tie in appropriately with the surrounding built development.”

The report added: “Environmental health officers requested that a safe-guarding condition is recommended to ensure the site is adequately serviced for water provision.

“However, as the quality of the supply is covered by separate legislation as noted above, in lieu of a planning condition, an informative note will be attached to the recommendation.”
