Engines and generosity at Cairndow Tractor and Car Show

VISITORS TO the Cairndow Tractor and Car Show were treated to a fantastic day out last month, as the much-loved event returned with a great display.

Despite a couple of passing showers, on Saturday, July 26, the weather held firm long enough for families, vehicle enthusiasts and supporters to enjoy the sights and sounds of vintage tractors, classic cars and more, all in aid of a worthy cause.

This year’s event raised £600 for Cowal Hospice, thanks to the generosity of attendees and the dedicated fundraising efforts on the day.

A special mention goes to Tam McDonald, whose enthusiastic bucket collection, paired with his dyed green hair, helped boost donations and bring smiles to faces across the showground.

The organisers extended their sincere thanks to all who supported and helped make the event such a success, including Loch Fyne Oysters Tree Shop, the Jackson family, and the many volunteers and exhibitors who gave their time and effort.

First prize car went to John Barbour from Oban with his Ford Orion. First prize tractor went to Alastair Spensor from Toward with his Ferguson 35 and the prize for youngest competitor went to Olivia Parker from Islay with her Mercedes lorry.

Plans are already being considered for next year’s event, with organisers keen to keep the tradition growing and continue supporting local charities.
