Kyles of Bute Golf Club contest Royal Hotel Trophy

There was a great turnout for the Royal Hotel trophy at Kyles of Bute Golf Club last weekend , and whilst the ground underfoot was wet, the weather was perfect for golfing.

The winner, by some distance, with a net 62 was Douglas Anderson, second equal on net 69 was Dan MacRae and Jim Carruthers.

There were two 2’s by Niall McFarlane and Tom G Whyte.

First in scratch with a gross score of 71 was Gordon Whyte.

Golfers also competed on the same day in the Turner Cup, a cup sponsored by Scott Turner– who believes the cup has been contested for over 40 years..

Allan Foy came first with a close win over Tom G Whyte.

The club wished to thank Scott Turner for the cup and the bottle, and Andy T. for the pies.

Next Sunday for the gents section is a ten-man team against Rothesay, in Rothesay.

However, this means that the course will still be open from 9.30am-1.30pm, and on this occasion visitors can play.

The Ladies played a nine-hole team Texas scramble in quite damp windy conditions.

Winners on the day were Lucie Cooney and Marie Burke.
