Hole-in-one and away days

Despite access issues leading to the club, hardy Blairmore and Strone golfers continued to play.

The alternative route via White’s Brae in Blairmore is passable with care, and has allowed some dedicated golfers to access the course, meaning cup games on Saturdays and Texas scrambles on Sundays have still been contested.

Elsewhere, the club enjoyed its away day to Gourock on a splendid course together with the hospitality provided.

The ladies trophy went to Lorraine Daw, whilst the men’s trophy was won by Innes Lambert. Back on home turf, the competitions were dominated by Russell Clark.

Firstly, he won the Darroch cup with a net 62.

This cup is played between those who have won other cups throughout the year, with second going Michael Caveney (net 65).

The September Medal was also won by Russell with a net 58, second place went to Billy Ferguson (net 59) on this occasion.

Russell also claimed victory in the first round of the Winter Cup with a fantastic net 55, second was Neil Monroe on net 64.

In addition, the club held its annual back to front competition, adding difficulty and amusement to an already testing course.

The ladies cup was won by Lorraine Daw whilst the men’s cup was won by Raymond Gorman, who produced an amazing hole-in-one at the last hole from the second tee to the ninth green over the trees.

Elsewhere, the September 200 club draw was won by Betty Marshall who won £95.

A spokesperson for the club added: “We trust that we will get normal access to the club past Dunselma in the near future.”
