Bulls battle hard before Clydebank surge

THE BRANDANE Bulls faced a tough test on Saturday as they travelled to take on title-chasing Clydebank FC in blustery conditions.

With the home side boasting an incredible goal difference of more than 100 goals in just 20 games, the Bulls knew they would have to be at their very best against one of the league’s most potent attacking teams.

Clydebank made a flying start, opening the scoring within five minutes with an overhead kick before doubling their advantage midway through the first-half.

To their credit, the Bulls showed great character to fight back. Robin Whitcomb pulled a goal back with a powerful strike, and just five minutes later he grabbed his second with another fine finish to level the match at 2–2 going into the break.

However, the second-half proved a much sterner challenge. Playing into a strong wind, the Bulls found it difficult to gain territory or maintain possession, allowing Clydebank to take control of the game.

The hosts went on to add six more goals after the interval, securing an 8–2 victory that underlined their title credentials.

Despite the result, there were positives for the Bulls, particularly their first-half performance where they matched one of the league’s top sides.

Player of the Match awards went to Oscar Mullen and Robin Whitcomb, both of whom stood out with strong performances in difficult conditions.

The club extended its thanks to Robert Mitchell of Mitchell Building & Landscaping for sponsoring the match.
