RNLI Tighnabruaich fundraisers have thanked the community after a successful May Day event raised more than £2,000 for the lifesaving charity.
With hopes for dry weather, volunteers set up stalls selling cakes, plants, burgers and RNLI merchandise, while supporters also had the chance to enjoy displays in local Open Gardens.
The event raised a total of £2,028.06, with all proceeds helping support the RNLI’s work saving lives at sea.
As an independent charity, the RNLI relies on donations rather than government funding to keep its crews, lifeboats and lifeguards ready to respond.
In 2024, for every £1 spent on charitable activities, 54p went towards lifeboats, property and equipment, 28p towards running the lifeboat service, 12p towards lifeguard rescue, 4p towards water safety, education and awareness, and 2p towards international drowning prevention.
Fundraising chair Janet Lange thanked everyone who helped make the event a success.
She said: “Huge thanks to everyone for your help and support.”
The money raised will help ensure RNLI crews can remain ready 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to respond to emergencies at sea.
