THERE was an extra reason to celebrate at this year’s Punk on the Peninsula festival when newlyweds Mr and Mrs Turner made a surprise appearance on stage moments after tying the knot.

The couple had just married across the road at the Queen’s Hall before heading straight to the festival celebrations, where they were greeted with cheers from the crowd and invited on stage to mark the occasion in true punk style.

Festival organisers said there could hardly have been a more fitting wedding party than joining hundreds of revellers at one of Dunoon’s most colourful events of the year.

Naturally, Billy Idol’s iconic song White Wedding was chosen as the soundtrack to the special moment.

Organisers said the moment perfectly summed up the spirit of the festival, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year.

A spokesperson for Punk on the Peninsula said: “Congratulations to newlyweds Mr and Mrs Turner. What better party than a punk party?

Everyone at Punk on the Peninsula wishes the couple a long and happy future together.”
