Dunoon Sheriff Court report

Kyle McGowan, (22), from Dunoon, was given a community payback order with a supplementary requirement for 12 months, ordered to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work, ordered to attend addiction services and was given a restriction of liberty order (house arrest) from 7pm to 7am for eight weeks, all as a direct alternative to custody.

On February 15, at a property in Sandbank, McGowan played a musical instrument which caused annoyance and failed to desist when asked to do so by a police officer. McGowan also behaved in a threatening manner by shouting and swearing towards police officers, adopted an aggressive stance and threatened to fight. McGowan resisted arrest and obstructed and hindered police officers in the execution of their duty, refused to walk to a police van and attempted to jump forward at a stairwell.

McGowan also assaulted a police officer by attempting to headbutt him and kicked him repeatedly on his body. He also assaulted a female police officer by kicking her on her body.

In separate charges, on March 8, at a property in Innellan, McGowan, without reasonable excuse, wilfully and recklessly damaged the property of another by slashing the tyres and smashing the rear windscreen of a vehicle. He also behaved in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting and swearing. McGowan also had on him an offensive weapon, namely a golf club, which he brandished, and a knife.

Samuel Kofi Kyeremeh, (65), from West Dunbartonshire, was fined £400 and his driver’s licence was endorsed with six penalty points. On September 24 last year, on the A83 near Lochgair, Kyeremeh drove a car without due care and attention and consideration for other road users, in that he overtook other vehicles when it was unsafe to do so. He also entered the opposing carriageway and drove in the path of an oncoming vehicle, whereby another road user had to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

Kamil Baryla, (43), from Dunoon, was disqualified from driving for 12 months and given a community payback order of 160 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to custody. On October 1, 2025, on Argyll Street, Dunoon, Baryla drove a car whilst disqualified.
